Dalat Flower Festival to mark Thang Long-Hanoi’s 1,000th anniversary
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung has given the People’s Committee of the central highland province of Lam Dong the go-ahead to hold a Dalat Flower Festival to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.
The Deputy Prime Minister authorized the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Hanoi City People’s Committee to help Lam Dong Province organise the festival from January 1 to 4, 2010 making it the first big event to welcome the grand celebration of Thang Long-Hanoi.
The highlight of the festival will be a tortoise tower of flowers in the middle of Xuan Huong Lake circled by flowers depicting an orchestra, a tower, roads and streets. Festival activities will include a flower market and an international flowers and ornamental plants exhibition. Basic preparations for the event are already completed.
